When a Photographer and a Videographer Fall In Love

Most brides and grooms don't think that when they're hiring vendors for their wedding, that their
decisions can change someone's life; but thats exactly what happened at a wedding five years
ago at St. Clements in Matawan.

The majority of couples aren't aware of the tension between a lot of photographers and
videographers on the wedding day, but its usually there. Videographers claim to be pushed
around by photographers as if they were a lesser art form and photographers complain that
videographers just get in their way. It's a grumpiness that usually resides in the older generation
of wedding vendors, but luckily for videographer Rob and photographer Vanessa, they weren't
aware of the stigma present in their preceding generation.

"I can still remember the moment when Vanessa walked into the bride's bedroom that morning.
It was something about the way she smiled or ran her fingers through her hair that just drew me
to her," Rob says. "I was definitely attracted to her but had to stay professional, of course. So I
just introduced myself, shook her hand and went back to shooting."

Vanessa remembers eating dinner later that night at the reception with Rob. "He was keeping
up a small talk conversation while I was secretly fishing around to see if he had a girlfriend. I
was so bummed when I found out that he did! Not to mention that I was dating someone at the
time as well."

For the next five years, thats pretty much how it went. Rob and Vanessa worked on weddings
together from time to time, both futilely attracted to one another but keeping the relationship
purely professional and going in and out of other romantic relationships themselves. They both
even opened up their own businesses: Rob Adams Productions and Vanessa Joy Photography.
Everything was outwardly platonic until one magical wedding night Rob just threw his inhibitions
to the wind after the reception was over.

"I just couldn't hold it in any longer. I felt so close to her all day and when we went to hug
goodbye, I knew I just had to kiss her; it was now or never," Rob remembers. "So I turned the typical, casual kiss on the cheek to a sincere, long-awaited, passionate one on the lips."

"I was so shocked when he just kissed me right there in the parking lot." Vanessa reminisces.
"But WOW, was he a good kisser and I was so sure he could hear my heart beating right through my chest."

Ever since then its been an amazing ride for Vanessa and Rob. Within 6 months of dating they
were engaged, complete with photo and video coverage of the actual proposal outside designer
dress shop Pronovias in Manhattan, which you can find on both of their blogs.

Their wedding was a breeze to plan since they've both been in the wedding industry for so long.

"We're just enjoying being engaged, being in the same shoes as our clients and working
together more often."

"We're really excited about our wedding on December 27th of this year. It's even going to be at the reception hall, Eagle Ridge Golf Club, where we worked the night of our first kiss," says Vanessa.

The future Mr. and Mrs. Adams recently acquired new office space right in the heart of downtown Freehold at 62 East Main Street and are eagerly decorating and planning for the new space. They can often be found doing their custom editing work side-by-side with their laptops and enjoying every minute of the PC versus MAC debate.

Lately their efforts have been focused on combining their similar photography and videography styles to produce an edgy, dual-media product that their clients have been raving over.

"It's been really special to be able to work together towards a goal that we're both so passionate about."
